MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) -- a genuinely new package for this project, needed because gnome-remote-desktop 51.0's meson.build calls dependency('krb5') unconditionally, before its RDP-vs-VNC backend branch even starts (used for Kerberos-based network auth in enterprise RDP/VNC scenarios). Built into the SHARED /usr prefix, not isolated -- unlike the rest of the GNOME 51 chain, nothing else in this project uses krb5, so there's no collision risk with anything already installed, and a shared install means any FUTURE package that wants real Kerberos support (curl, openssh, etc. all have optional krb5 integration upstream) can use the same one without needing its own private copy. No published checksum file found on kerberos.org's own dist server -- archive integrity verified with gzip -t before trusting the computed sha256, same fallback approach already used elsewhere in this project for un-checksummed releases (Mesa, Kdenlive).

GCC 14 now compiles the whole package cleanly (confirmed via a real from-scratch rebuild) now that vulkan-headers is at 1.4.357 -- clang is no longer needed for this package, build.sh switched back to gcc/g++. || 2026-09-28, THE REAL, STILL-UNRESOLVED RUNTIME BUG (found via a genuine lightdm autologin attempt into the Plasma (Wayland) session, not assumed from a build success): `kwin_wayland` crashes on EVERY single launch with a real SIGSEGV, confirmed via a real gdb-wrapped launch (swap `/usr/bin/kwin_wayland` for a `gdb -batch -ex run -ex 'bt full' --args kwin_wayland.real ...` wrapper script, restart lightdm, read the backtrace) and cross-checked against the raw dmesg crash signature -- both point at the exact same address, `libQt6Gui.so.6.11.2` offset `0x238ee5`, every single time, regardless of compiler (confirmed identical under both the clang build AND a fresh GCC rebuild -- this DEFINITIVELY RULES OUT the compiler/linker as the cause; an earlier `-Wl,--no-gc-sections` fix attempt, based on a plausible-looking but WRONG theory that clang+lld was garbage-collecting kwin's own statically-linked Qt platform plugin's registration constructor, was tested twice against a real login and did not change the outcome at all). `addr2line -f -C -e libQt6Gui.so.6.11.2 0x238ee5` (this exact Qt6 build ships full debug info, not stripped) resolves the crash to a REAL, NAMED Qt6 function: `QStyleHintsPrivate::update(QPlatformTheme const*)`. This is Qt's own internal code, not KWin's -- meaning kwin's own statically-linked `KWinQpaPlugin`/`KWinIntegrationPlugin` (confirmed correctly wired in the real 6.7.5 source: `Q_IMPORT_PLUGIN(KWinIntegrationPlugin)` really is present in `src/main_wayland.cpp`, `target_link_libraries(kwin_wayland KWinQpaPlugin ...)` really is unconditional in `src/CMakeLists.txt`) DOES get selected and DOES start constructing `KWin::QPA::Integration` -- the crash happens one step further in, when Qt's own style-hints machinery calls back into the theme object that integration provides. Real working theory, not yet verified against source: `KWin::QPA::Integration` doesn't fully implement/populate whatever `QPlatformTheme` interface Qt 6.11.2's `QStyleHintsPrivate::update()` now expects (a plausible, real KDE-vs-bleeding-edge-Qt6 ABI/behavior skew -- checked directly against `download.kde.org/stable/plasma/`: 6.7.5 genuinely is the latest KWin release available upstream, so this is not a version-lag problem on this project's part; KWin 6.7.5 likely was never tested against a Qt6 this new). Real fix options, none attempted yet given the scope: (a) patch `KWin::QPA::Integration::createPlatformTheme()` (or wherever it constructs/returns its `QPlatformTheme`) against the real kwin-6.7.5 source, which needs real KDE/Qt platform-plugin expertise and iteration; (b) pin an older Qt6 for just this one component (very invasive, this whole KF6/Plasma/Kdenlive stack shares the one `/opt/qt6-full` 6.11.2 install); (c) wait for a future kwin release built against a Qt6 this new. NOT started without explicit direction, given the size of any of these. Cross-checked-working alter
